True to form, the liberal “polling” firm Public Policy Polling today released numbers that differ dramatically from other legitimate polls and against Republicans.

“Allowing Representative Stapleton to remain in leadership sends the message that Democrats will give this hurtful rhetoric a pass,” said Chairman Newman. “Unless this is the kind of message Speaker Lujan and Majority Leader Martinez want to defend they should remove Representative Stapleton from majority leadership immediately.”

Governor Martinez earned a 65 percent job approval rating from the people of New Mexico. The Governor’s job approval is up from an initial rating of 59 percent in March of this year. “Our Jobs Governor is keeping her promises to New Mexico families. Her integrity, work ethic and dedication to improving the lives of everyday New Mexicans are at the heart of her soaring job approval." “We are proud of the work Governor Martinez is doing to empower job creators, improve education and reinvigorate our economy. Voters across New Mexico know that our country’s economy is stuck in a ditch because of Barack Obama’s failure to empower job creators and reinvigorate the economy, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz knows that too. As Democrats continue to oppose mainstream New Mexicans, it is fascinating to watch them try to recast themselves as moderates. Democrat Rep. Eleanor Chavez was recently praised for her "eloquence" and described like this: "as quiet and studious as they come." Huh? Eleanor Chavez, who was paid by AFCME while serving as a legislator, is as extreme as they come. During the campaign, she said that Susana Martinez is a racist that should GO TO HELL

“President Obama has increased our debt faster than any president in history and now he is pitching a $1.5 trillion tax bill to fund another flawed stimulus plan. Today, national unemployment stands at 9.1 percent. To create jobs we must reinvigorate our economy by reducing regulation and tackling the true drivers of our debt. The people of New Mexico are looking for solutions to get our economy back on track but President Obama isn’t listening. He continues to push for more taxes without putting substantial spending cuts on the table or calling for bold reform.”

Democrat legislative leadership is trying mightily to hide their support for giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants from the public. Their latest effort is to introduce the same status-quo bill from last session and try to call it a "compromise" in the hopes that the press and the public won't look beyond the label.

The New Mexico Supreme Court today rejected a petition filed by the AFSCME labor union against Governor Susana Martinez. The union had asked the Supreme Court to force Governor Martinez to reappoint John Boyd to the Public Employee Labor Relations Board instead of her new appointee, Roger Bartosiewicz.

As opponents get more and more personal in their attacks against Governor Susana Martinez for her support of a bill repealing the law giving driver's licenses to illegals immigrants, recent polling shows New Mexicans from all backgrounds are standing solidly behind her.

It is fitting that today is the first regular season NFL game. New Mexico Democratic legislators are employing the tried and true NFL strategy of running out the clock on hard-working New Mexicans by slow-playing substantive legislation.

Democrat Majority Whip Senator Mary Jane Garcia (D-Dona Ana) once again proved that no cheap shot is below her. Today, after committing to support the bill to end social promotion — the practice of passing one child to the next grade before they have learned the basics — Garcia backed out in a press conference announcing the bill.

A national Rasmussen poll released today once again shows the strong public support behind Governor Martinez's push to repeal the law that gives driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. This comes as Democrats try desperately to spin their support of the highly unpopular law.

All my federal representatives, all Democrats, are “shying away from town halls” (Albuquerque Journal, 8/16). Sen. Jeff Bingaman does not think they are effective. Sen. Tom Udall needs the time to begin crafting job creation plans. And Rep. Martin Heinrich has concerns about “safety” and (went) on vacation.

But if the American experiment is to flourish in this 21stcentury, Hispanics will have to play a role in rejecting big government in favor of greater freedom and personal responsibility. Hispanics will have to realize that the government can never replace ingenuity, entrepreneurship and a vibrant free enterprise to create prosperity and a high standard of living. Economic prosperity and the lure of a better tomorrow continue to attract millions of immigrants to the United States, including many from Mexico.

Why can't our elected officials do both? Why cant they meet constituents and plan? They can certainly be a lot of places — at a whole lot of events — while on the campaign trail. Therefore, we don't buy the spin that it s most important to be huddled over a cell phone mapping out ways to bust up the debt and create jobs. .... We laud Pearce, who represents Las Cruces and southern New Mexico, for doing the right thing and meeting face-to-face with the voters.

Some legislators have said the upcoming special session for redistricting should otherwise be limited to easy tasks. Repealing the law that allows this abuse to continue seems like it should be one.

Pointing out the untrue nature of the Democrat allegations, the Albuquerque Journal today exposed falsehoods contained in a state Democratic Party press release from earlier this week that falsely accused Governor Susana Martinez of giving a state contract to Darren White.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — “The question on everyone’s mind is where in the world is Martin Heinrich?” asked Republican Party of New Mexico Executive Director Bryan Watkins. “Heinrich is unwilling to show up and talk with his constituents face-to-face but he has managed to find time to hold face-to-face fundraisers with major donors. Minority Leader Tom Taylor, Representative Nate Gentry and House Republicans have stepped up to the plate by taking action to hold Democrats accountable and ensure that Commissioner Block is removed from his seat. Hollow statements from DPNM are meaningless unless they are followed by action. We hope that House Leader Lujan and Senate President Michael Sanchez will go farther than than just paying the matter lip-service and work swiftly to impeach Commissioner Block.
