In De Baca County there are more cows than people. The people are conservative in general though they have long made a practice of registering Democratic. They do this in order to have the opportunity to vote in the primaries. I’m happy to say that this situation is changing and people are beginning to reconsider their party affiliations. In the last primary for a general election-we had more contested races on the Republican ballot than on the Democratic ballot for probably the very first time in history.

Because we are small in number, we don’t meet formally as often as the larger counties. When we do meet—we want to make it count. This past March we had Steve and Cynthia Pearce along with Ryan Cangelosi joining us for chili and conversation. Needless to say, it was a great meeting.

We would welcome each of you as well, to join us either for a visit or a longer more permanent stay in De Baca County.
